What Will You Learn?
Digital arts students learn to create media content through video, audio, and photography for different media formats by building skills, knowledge, and experience at the intersection of creativity and technology. Digital arts courses are focused on hands-on media production projects across media forms, including digital video- and film-making; digital imaging, visual effects, and animation; transmedia storytelling, virtual reality, and emerging media; social media and digital communication; podcasting and audio production; and photography. Through a foundation of media studies courses you will also gain and apply a deeper understanding of digital arts, culture, and technology.

What Will You Do?
Digital arts coursework is centered on a series of hands-on media production workshops, where you will work together across media forms and develop your own independent media projects based on your interests, such as digital video, narrative filmmaking, documentary, animation, screenwriting, podcasting, photography, virtual reality, and multi-platform productions. You will also gain professional experience and prepare for a successful career after graduation, as all digital arts majors complete an internship and have opportunities to work in campus media like the student newspaper and radio station.

Macquarie University, just outside Sydney, gives students the opportunity to take part in the city life. With just about 30,000 students, including 8,000 international students from over 71 countries, Macquarie is able to prepare students for today's constantly changing, highly competitive society. The international studies program includes an orientation at the beginning of the term at a site outside of Sydney. The school offers classes in international communications and in media. There are also opportunities for study abroad students to take part in internships that are a combination of work-based learning and academic assessment. The program is offered in the fall and spring semesters and for a full academic year. The University of the Sunshine Coast in Queensland offers courses in the fields of Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, and Communication. Located on the edge of a national park and home to the native kangaroos, the campus is full of sunshine and outdoor activities to do whenever you have free time. The campus is close to Queensland’s capital city Brisbane and the Great Barrier Reef. The school offers an orientation program for all international programs. The University of East Anglia is located in Norwich, one of the oldest cities in the Britain, with a metropolitan population of 375,000. UEA has over 13,000 students. It is home to the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, described by the Times University Guide as "perhaps the greatest resource of its type on any university campus." The collection combines works from famous Western artists with fine and applied arts from around the globe. The university's research in communication, cultural, and media studies is ranked in the top three in the country. The program is offered for the fall and spring semesters and for a full academic year. Courses cover film studies, television studies, American studies, society, culture and media, and politics and media.
The University of Westminster is one of London's oldest educational institutions. The university comprises several different schools, with an undergraduate population of about 16,000 students from the UK and over 80 other countries. The School of Communication and Creative Industries is located on the Harrow campus, 30 minutes from the center of London and near a tube stop. In the British Government's official tables of teaching and research excellence, no University ranks higher in the field of communication, design, and media than the University of Westminster. This center of excellence is housed in a £30 million custom-built campus. The campus holds broadcast quality TV, radio, photography, and music studios and computer facilities. The school has an orientation program for all international students. The program is offered for the fall and spring semesters and for a full academic year. Intensive Course Abroad
Alternative Media and Culture in the Balkans (Serbia, Croatia, and Slovenia), led by Professors Sonia Bozic and Amanda Thom Woodson, last offered Summer 2023. An international field experience examining a range of artistic and cultural aspects dependent upon students’ specific interests for which they have to create digital interactive projects. The program includes studying Yugoslav film history, visiting a motion capture studio and game production company, lectures at the game association of Serbia, a masterclass by a famous Croatian director, a lecture at the Institute of Transmedia Design in Slovenia, but it also includes visiting historic and cultural places and learning about the Balkan customs.

Campus Media
The Quindecim also known as The Q, is the independent student newspaper of Goucher College. Founded in 1913, it is written, edited, and run by students. Articles, photography, cartoons, and multimedia content are published regularly online and a print edition is published twice monthly. Goucher College Student Radio is a student-run internet radio station streaming from its studio in the Athenaeum. Founded in 2001, GCSR aims to provide the campus with original, creative audio programming, with music, talk, and more virtually unrestricted content.
Internship
The Digital arts major requires a 2-4 credit internship. Contact the Career Education Office for details of requirements and opportunities currently posted. Digital arts majors can intern for a wide variety of companies, nonprofit groups, and government agencies, during the school year and in the summer, in Baltimore and elsewhere, in fields such as film production, TV networks, web design and development, public relations and advertising, and social media and content management.
